David McCabe - a brief CV

 

 
1968 to 1972 Studied Interior Design in Australia at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, School of Architecture, graduating as a Fellow in 1972.
1972 to 1974 Joined Bates, Smart and McCutcheon Architects and worked on a wide range of retail and office projects, including working with I.M. Pei Architects on the prestigious Collins Place project in Melbourne.
1974 to 1975 Studied Art History and Italian at the Istituto Britannico, Florence
1975 to 1982 Joined Robin Wade Design Associates and worked with Robin on a large variety of museum projects from small countryside visitor centres to the Egyptian Sculpture Galleries at the British Museum.
1982 to 1991 Returned to Australia in 1982 and established an associated practice with Robin Wade in Melbourne, David McCabe Design Pty Ltd. Responsible for over 50 museums and exhibition projects in this period, including a major study on the establishment of the Museum of Australia, Canberra and the Bicentennial Travelling Exhibition. Lectured in Museum Studies at Deakin University from 1982 to 1990 in museum and exhibition planning.
1991 to 2002 Rejoined the London office of Robin Wade and Partners and became a Partner in 1992
from 2002 Established David McCabe Design specialising in museum and exhibition design with Robin Wade now a consultant.
